Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients
  • Tortilla chips – 1 large bag
  • Shredded cheddar cheese – 2 cups
  • Monterey Jack cheese – 1 cup
  • Cooked ground beef or chicken – 1 cup
  • Black beans – ½ cup
  • Sweet corn – ½ cup
Fresh Toppings
  • Diced tomatoes – 1 cup
  • Red onion – ½ cup
  • Jalapeños – sliced
  • Fresh cilantro – chopped
Sauces & Extras
  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa
  • Lime wedges
  • You can add more toppings if you like.
  • Actually… you probably will.

Equipment

  • Large Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or foil
  • Mixing bowl
  • Small saucepan
  • Cutting Board and Knife
  • spatula or tongs

Method
 

Step 1 – Preheat the Oven
  1. Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. This temperature melts the cheese nicely without burning the chips.
Step 2 – Prepare the Baking Tray
  1. Line your tray with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Spread tortilla chips in an even layer.
  3. Don’t stack them too high… or the bottom chips won’t get toppings.
  4. And nobody wants naked chips at the bottom of the tray.
Step 3 – Add the First Layer
  1. Sprinkle a portion of cheese across the chips.
  2. Then add:
  3. cooked meat
  4. beans
  5. corn
  6. Try to spread everything evenly.
  7. This step is important. If all toppings sit in one corner… Well, that corner will be amazing and the rest will be sad.
Step 4 – Add More Chips
  1. Yes, we’re layering.
  2. Add another light layer of chips and repeat with cheese and toppings.
  3. This trick ensures every bite has flavor.
Step 5 – Bake
  1. Place the tray in the oven.
  2. Bake for 8–10 minutes.
  3. Watch carefully. Cheese should melt completely but not brown too much.
  4. When the cheese starts bubbling… it’s ready.
Step 6 – Add Fresh Toppings
  1. Now comes the best part.
  2. Remove the tray and add:
  3. diced tomatoes
  4. onions
  5. cilantro
  6. jalapeños
  7. Then drizzle sour cream and guacamole.
  8. Maybe a squeeze of lime.
  9. And suddenly… It smells incredible.
