Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 fresh lemons
  • 3 to 4 cups cold water
  • 4 to 6 tbsp sugar taste first… then adjust
  • Optional: honey or simple syrup
  • 1 cup butterfly pea flower tea brewed + cooled
  • Ice cubes — plenty
  • A tiny pinch of salt it matters… trust me
  • Fresh mint leaves if your fridge surprises you

Equipment

  • A pitcher or jug
  • Two tall glasses (tall makes the swirl look cooler — trust me)
  • Lemon squeezer… or your hands… I’ve done both
  • Spoon for mixing
  • Small cup or pan to brew the tea
  • Ice cubes

Method

Step 1 — Brew The Blue “Galaxy” Base
  1. Boil a cup of water.
  2. Drop in butterfly pea flowers or a teabag.
  3. Let it sit.
  4. Not rushed — just sitting like a quiet conversation.
  5. Slowly… it turns dark blue. Midnight sky vibes. If you’re anything like me, you’ll lean in and stare for a second.
  6. Once it’s done?
  7. Let it cool.
  8. Please don’t pour it hot — I’ve made that mistake — ice melts, colors blend, and the drink just looks sad.
Step 2 — Make Lemonade (taste while mixing — always)
  1. In your pitcher:
  2. Lemon juice
  3. Sugar
  4. Pinch of salt
  5. Cold water
  6. Stir. Pause. Taste.
  7. Then change your mind — add a little more of something.
  8. Because that’s how real recipes work.
  9. I personally like it slightly tangy. You might like it sweeter. No right answer here — just vibes.
Step 3 — Fill Glasses With Ice
  1. This step… matters more than you’d think.
  2. Ice slows the liquids.
  3. Ice creates layers.
  4. No ice = no swirl drama.
  5. I usually pause a moment here — just appreciating how cold everything looks.
  6. A weird habit, maybe. But it feels nice.
Step 4 — Pour Lemonade First
  1. About three-fourths of the glass.
  2. Looks like ordinary lemonade — acting innocent — pretending nothing magical will happen.
  3. Let it sit for a few seconds.
Step 5 — Pour The Blue Tea Slowly (this is the cinematic moment)
  1. Take your cooled butterfly pea tea.
  2. Pour gently.
  3. Over a spoon if you want… or from the side… slow… patient.
  4. And then — there it is.
  5. Blue slides in.
  6. Yellow reacts.
  7. Purple blooms like watercolor.
  8. Tiny kitchen. Big mood.
  9. You don’t even sip right away — you just watch.
  10. Happens every time.
Step 6 — Let It Flex… Then Stir Lightly
  1. Don’t rush to mix.
  2. Let it show off.
  3. Then give one lazy swirl — half stir — enough to create gradients.
  4. Take a sip.
  5. Cold. Tangy. Softly floral.
  6. Yeah. That’s the “oh wow” moment.
