Ingredients

  • 1 lb salmon skin off… or keep it if you like crispy skin
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • Lemon juice

Equipment

  • An air fryer
  • A sharp-ish knife
  • A bowl
  • Maybe tongs
  • Maybe a spoon
  • A paper towel or two (very important actually)

Method

Step 1: Cutting the Salmon
  1. Put the salmon on the board.
  2. Cut into cubes — about 1 inch each.
  3. Do mine look perfect?
  4. No.
  5. Do they cook perfectly anyway?
  6. Absolutely.
  7. Pat them dry.
  8. If the salmon feels slippery… just breathe… keep patting… eventually it behaves.
Step 2: Seasoning (the fun part)
  1. Throw the pieces into a bowl.
  2. Add olive oil → garlic powder → paprika → salt → pepper → soy sauce → honey → lemon juice.
  3. Mix everything. I sometimes shake the bowl like popcorn because… why not?
  4. Every piece should look shiny and seasoned.
  5. At this point… the smell hits you.
  6. And you suddenly forget how tired you were.
Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer
  1. 400°F (200°C).
  2. 2 or 3 minutes.
  3. The air fryer will beep loudly like it’s announcing the arrival of royalty.
  4. Ignore it.
  5. Or bow to it. Your choice.
Step 4: Into the Basket
  1. Spray or brush a little oil.
  2. Spread the salmon cubes out — single layer.
  3. Please don’t crowd them.
  4. Overcrowded salmon turns into steamed sadness.
Step 5: Air Fry Time
  1. Set to 400°F.
  2. Cook for 8–10 minutes.
  3. Halfway — shake or flip.
  4. You’ll see the edges starting to crisp.
  5. Honey caramelizing.
  6. Some pieces darkened slightly — that char… oh yes…
  7. This is the moment you feel proud of yourself for no reason.
Step 6: Eat Immediately
  1. Don’t wait.
  2. Don’t overthink.
  3. Fresh salmon bites taste like tiny crispy pillows of happiness.
  4. Dip in spicy mayo.
  5. Or put in rice bowls.
  6. Or stand in the kitchen and eat half the batch before serving…
  7. (I have never done that… except every time.)
